FSUU Genshiken Official Forum Rules

* Introduction
o Welcome to the FSUU Genshiken Official Forum. This is a guide to help maintain an organized and friendly forum. Please follow these rules as outlined below.

All members are to respect the thoughts, opinions, and the right to forum use of all other members. Any personal discrepancies between members should either be dealt with outside of the site, or through site staff. Failure to abide by these rules may result in a temporary ban from the FSUU Genshiken Official Forums. Moderators and Administrators will investigate all matters to the best of our abilities when brought to our attention.



* Forum Rules
o This forum is exclusive for FSUU Genshiken members only.
o For new members, introducing yourself in the "New Member Introduction" should be done as soon as possible.
o For officers, please post your profile on "The Officers" Thread as soon as possible.
o For advisers, please post your profile on "The Advisers" Thread as soon as possible.
o When posting or replying, use a language or words from other langauges commonly spoken or known by the Genshi members. We don't want to have to translate hieroglyphics just to understand a post.
o No posting of pornographic text, images or videos
o Insults, harassment, flaming or other similar abusive behavior towards other members of this forum will not be tolerated. This includes the use of "retort images". Images used to convey a "come back" message (i.e. to "retort") are forbidden in all areas of the forum, they are often offensive and only serve to ignite flame wars.
o In line with avoidance of flaming or anything that may result to the same, members of this forum should do their best to MAKE SURE that their posts will not be misunderstood or will not offend someone. When expressing opinions, you have all the right to do so. However, please use words that show that you are merely expressing opinion and not trying to hurt someone, for people may get hurt or take your post offensive if they fail to comprehend your intentions. No ban shall constitute a violation of this rule, but all flaming resulting from such shall be dealt with appropriately by the admins and mods.
Manner of posting is as important to its matter.
o Sensitive issues are taboo in the forums.
o Please be sure to also pay attention to any additional rules for a particular forum. These separate forum rules are only to be followed in that particular forum. Those rules were created to suit the needs of that particular forum that they were created for. These will be posted by assigned moderators (Not excluding administrators; Reasons: The chosen mods will decide how they want their assigned forum to work. Us admins will deal with whether how they govern their forum is fitting or not.)
o Use only one account.
o You are not permitted to post the same message in more than one forum or more than once in the same forum (with exceptions such as the Forum Rules). When starting topics, make sure it is placed in the proper forum. When replying topics, your reply must at least reply to the topic or to another reply. Replies like "BBQ SAUCE!!" and "Fruit!" that are made to distract or simply done out of whim are HEAVILY discouraged.
o Double posting is discouraged unless you are replying to your own post as an update to a given post. (Such as those in the Shrines and the Artists Lounge.)
o This is a forum not a chat room; threads with only two people chatting are generally dull for everyone else.(Ex. Thread titled "To Barjis teh Admin-Chan: Do you have a Flash disk?" ) If you want to chat with another member of this forum please use the chat box.

Reason for putting up this rule:

A recent misunderstanding has occurred between members and has been dealt with appropriately. A post was misunderstood to be offensive when in fact the poster was merely expressing opinion. A reader was offended by such post and the misunderstanding therefore occurred. With multiple readings and analysis added with the advice of my fellow administrator, I, Barjis teh Admin-Chan, realized that the words can be taken without offense when verbally said, but MAY BE misunderstood when read. Even if the misunderstanding has been remedied, we the administrators will do our part to make sure that this NEVER HAPPENS again, and this has resulted to the creation of this rule.

It has also been taken to account that we are all HUMAN and are therefore able to unconsciously violate the said rule. This, however, was still put up to lessen the rate of occurrence of that said mistake.
This rule does not tackle with the intentions of posters. In line with the explanation of the "unconscious mistake", it has been deduced that even when members don't intend to insult someone, their choice of words MAY be the reason why readers are insulted. The poster who commits such mistake DOES NOT intend to do harm, but he unconsciously chose words that he normally uses for his post and was then misunderstood when read, which then led to the problem tackled by this rule.
